Many people are put off by the idea of an assessment, but it’s not something to worry about.
All assessments by Minster Home Care are carried out by our registered manager, in the comfort of your own home, free of charge. An assessment is a simple way of working out your individual care and support needs so we can decide the best way to help you.
You may have a condition that you need daily or weekly help with, and it’s useful to make a list any things you may find difficult so this can be discussed during the assessment.
Once an assessment has been carried out we can recommend any services which might be of benefit to you or your loved one, and put together a tailored care plan to provide the support you feel is require. Our experienced team understand that people like things done a certain way, and we never want to try and change the way you do things day to day – we are simply there to support you.

An assessment by your Local Authority (direct payments)
A care needs assessment from your local authority can be the first step towards getting the help and support you need with your daily routine. Similar to the Minster Home Care process, the aim is to work out how much help you need to enable you to live as independently as possible.
Everyone is entitled to a free care needs assessment, regardless of how much savings you have or your income. You then have the option to use the money from a direct payment towards paying for Minster Home Care services.
To apply for funding;
Ask the adult social services department of your local authority and explain that you need some help at home. It doesn’t matter how complex or simple your needs are.
How much will I receive as a direct payment?
The direct payments must be enough to meet the needs that your local authority has assessed you as having.
Depending on your financial circumstances, you might have to contribute towards the cost of your care. This is decided by a local authority means test or financial assessment.
