  • Derek Ward Director After operating a domestic home service franchise for over 15 years in the York and Harrogate area, Dez developed a real passion for care and customer service. Therefore, in 2020 he made his dream into a reality and launched Minster Home Care. “With my passion for staff recruitment, governance, and marketing, plus existing experience in operating a very similar business model to domiciliary care, I felt that this would be an industry I would gain huge job satisfaction from by helping families remain in their own homes.”
  • Lauren Higgins Assistant Manager : Level 3 in Adult Social Care I have 15 years of care experience and a Level 3 in Adult Social Care. I started my care career when my Grandma suffered a large stroke and I subsequently left employment to become my Grandmas primary career. Alongside caring for my Grandma, I worked as a complex care practitioner, gaining experience within a wide range of care settings and needs. I have personally witnessed the benefits of excellent care can have on a person’s life and that of their families, so I have a real passion for promoting person centred care and wanted to work for a company that reflect my own values. I joined Minster Home Care in Autumn 2021 to provide daily support to our care team, and to ensure we recruit the best candidates for the company.
  • Ruth Moore Senior Home Care Assistant & Compliance : Level 3 in Adult Social Care I started my journey in the care environment in 1998 where I worked in a local care home. I loved meeting people and supporting them and since then I worked with young adults with learning disabilities to support them with their independence. I have also worked in the education environment for young people, children and their families, and although I always loved my job I felt the need to go back to where I started so I decided to look for a job where I could support the more mature people. I have a Level 3 in Adult Social Care, and I joined Minster Home Care because I liked the way they were family run and also their ethos. In late 2021 the company appointed me as one of their Senior Carer’s. I love my job and truly thrive from supporting our service users and my colleagues.
  • Emily Walker Home Care Assistant I started working in care in 2016. Since then, I have had two children and wanted to get back in to working as a carer because I really enjoyed it first time around. Minster Home Care sounded welcoming so I applied online and started with them during September 2021 . Working with Minster is rewarding and I'm very passionate about my job. I enjoy having conversations with our clients and listening to stories about their family, careers, and anecdotes from their life. I always try to go above and beyond and make sure that clients and their families are happy and feel supported. Since I started with Minster I’ve received Star Employee of the Month twice, which makes me proud to be part of our team and has also helped to rebuild my confidence. The management and senior team always make me feel welcome and I can have a laugh and be myself. I keep on growing as a carer and as a person.
  • Kelly Riley Home Care Assistant I first got into care work in 2012 when I worked as a health care assistant at York hospital; this is when I discovered I had a huge passion for caring for others and realised just how rewarding it was. I started working for Minster Home Care in spring 2022 after a bit of a break from care work due to having young children. I had previously struggled to balance my work and family life when doing 12 hour shifts so when I got the job with Minster I couldn’t believe how flexible it was. I wish I had joined the company much sooner as I have managed to achieve a great work life balance through working on a permanent shift pattern. Within my role at Minster, I provide personal care, companionship and help some of our clients with taking their medication. I visit the same clients regularly so I have managed to build up a nice rapport with many of them and have really got to know their routines, likes, dislikes and little quirks. I absolutely love my job, it feels like a privilege to be part of my clients day to day lives and to help them remain independent in their own homes. I love listening to their stories, memories and catching up on what they’ve been up to.
